Welcome To The 3 Moms Book Nook

3moms_book_nook Welcome To The 3 Moms Book Nook

I have always wanted to join a book club to have an outlet to discuss books. However, with four kids and my husband’s work schedule, this has just not been feasible. That is why I am so excited about “The 3 Moms Book Nook.” Each Sunday we will be holding a virtual book club throughout the fall and winter.

The first book we will be discussing is At Home In Mitford Welcome To The 3 Moms Book Nook by Jan Karon.

It’s easy to feel at home in Mitford. In these high, green hills, the air is pure, the village is charming, and the people are generally lovable. Yet, Father Tim, the bachelor rector, wants something more. Enter a dog the size of a sofa who moves in and won’t go away. Add an attractive neighbor who begins wearing a path through the hedge. Now, stir in a lovable but unloved boy, a mystifying jewel theft, and a secret that’s sixty years old. Suddenly, Father Tim gets more than he bargained for. And readers get a rich comedy about ordinary people and their ordinary lives.

We selected this book as our first choice because of its uplifting content, fun (and wonderfully well-written) cast of characters, and the fact that it is readily available at almost every library around.

During this “curl up with a good read” season, we will be rotating between fiction and non-fiction books. We would love to hear any suggestions that you have for books you’d like to read and discuss with us. For the non-fiction selections, we are looking for books that are relevant to the content of our site. Homemaking, organization, parenting, frugality, simplicity, even cookbooks - these are all up for grabs topics as we choose books. Please give us your input. We want this to be everyone’s virtual book club.

So, time for our first “assignment.” At Home In Mitford Welcome To The 3 Moms Book Nook has 24 chapters and we’ll spread the reading out over 3 weeks. Next Sunday, we will be discussing chapters 1 through 8. We hope you’ll join us in reading and discussing this wonderful book. If you can, leave a comment if you plan to join the discussion. We’d love to hear from you!
