Welcome to Happy To Be At Home!
Happy To Be At Home.net (H2b@H) is the collaborative effort of Toni, Joy, and Kate, the original 3 Moms from the “3 Moms, 3 Kitchens, 31 Days” series. Their vision for this website is to create a haven where all women can find encouragement and inspiration in their homemaking duties. The 3 Moms believe all women—including housewives, stay-at-home and work-at-home moms, homeschooling moms, and even women who work outside of the home—can discover the joy in being Happy to be at Home.
TONI is a military wife and stay at home(schooling) mom to her six kids, ages 2 to 14. She is originally from Florida, but currently calls Maryland home. She loves to read, sew, bargain hunt, and save her family money.
Last year she read Total Money Makeover by Dave Ramsey, and decided, with her husband, to get gazelle-intense and get rid of all of their family’s debt. They paid off nearly $11,000 in four months. She thinks of frugality as a lifestyle, not something to be dreaded or practiced for a short period of time until goals are met.
She enjoys finding alternative uses for household items to save money and reduce waste. She is an avid garage sale and thrift store shopper and has been known to dumpster dive a time or two. You can read more about Toni on her personal blog, The Happy Housewife.
JOY is the wife of a music minister and spends her days teaching piano lessons from her home, as well as homeschooling her three kids, ages 5, 9, and 10. Joy is a self-avowed “grammar nazi” and a hopeless book nut who loves reading, learning, and trying out new things. Over the last 10 years she’s lived in Alaska and South Carolina, but finally feels at home in the great state of Texas.
In teaching piano and homeschooling her children, Joy models her teaching philosophy after the old Chinese proverb: “Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day. Teach him how to fish and he will eat for a lifetime.” Her goal in both endeavors is to develop a love of learning in her students and to give them the tools they need to become lifelong learners. KATE is the wife of a small-business owner and homeschools her four children, ages 8, 4, 3, and 1. She lives with her family in Michigan where they dream of purchasing an older home with a big backyard and plenty of room for a garden. Kate loves to read and write, and especially loves to cook. She can oftentimes be found with a cup of coffee sitting at the computer or working away in the kitchen, usually with a small helper or two at her side.
She and her husband have spent the past few years simplifying their lives, from the food they eat to the commitments that they keep. Kate spends her days striving to put one foot in front of the other, and hoping all the time that she does not trip and fall. Yet Kate is secure in the knowledge that if she does stumble, the Lord will pick her up and lovingly set her back on the right path. You can read more about Kate on her personal blog, A Simple Walk.
The purpose of Happy To Be At Home.net is to uplift, encourage, and assist women who desire to be happy at home. Each day you will find something to inspire you, make you laugh, make you think, or to assist you in your home. The general posting schedule is as follows:
