Fabulous and Free Online Geography Resources

europe Fabulous and Free Online Geography Resources
Since I began homeschooling my kids four years ago, I’ve become a complete geography nut. I have even been known to read an atlas for pleasure! Learning about geography has obviously become a passion of mine, and I’ve had a lot of fun finding good online resources to use with my kids…and yes, I admit to using the resources myself as well.

Here are some of the free resources we’ve used and enjoyed. I hope you can find some of these useful in your own homeschool.

  • Geography games and quizzes from Sheppard Software. There are tons of great geography resources on this site.
  • Lizard Point offers a dozens of quizzes covering countries, provinces, territories, states, capitals, cities, continents and oceans.
  • Another good online quiz from I Like to Learn.
  • Geosense is an online quiz that lets you test your knowledge of world geography alone or against another online player.
  • Interactive maps from Maps that Teach.
  • Seterra is a challenging educational geography program with 70 different exercises. Learn about countries, capitals, flags and cities in Africa, Europe, South America, North America, Asia and Australia, using outline map exercises. (My kids have really enjoyed using Seterra.)

And for a ton more resources, Stretch Mark Mama wrote a fabulous post about some of her favorite geography resources. You really must check out her list!
