Day 3 in Kimberly’s Kitchen
Today was my kid’s first day back to school after a long holiday weekend. It was also my birthday today. My husband took the day off to take me out so we could have some “couple’s time” for my birthday. He also took over the job of making breakfast for the kids this morning and packing their lunches. He did a great job. He made my son Cream of Wheat and my daughter oatmeal for breakfast. He also made sure to follow my school lunch rules and that is…
- Water
- Fruit
- Veggie
- Protein
- Starch
- Junk (like cookies or chips)
He did really good and packed them really good lunches.
For breakfast my husband took me to a diner. Call me crazy but I love diner foods.
For my breakfast I ordered Eggs Benedict. I have never had that before. It was SO GOOD! I have to learn how to make that at home. I could have gobbled up another serving of those. They were amazing!
We didn’t really have lunch today. I guess for lunch you can say we had ice cream from Stone Cold Creamery. I have never had ice cream from there before so we just had to try it. YUMMY! Their ice cream was DELISH!
For dinner my husband was going to make chicken, broccoli and pasta with Alfredo sauce. Pretty much the same meal we were going to have the other night before we accidently cooked the chicken in Yoshida sauce.
Everything was going great (my husband was making dinner for us) until he realized that the jar of Alfredo sauce didn’t “pop” when he opened it. Then he remembered that he had opened it up the other day when we were supposed to have it. Instead of putting the open jar in the fridge he put it back in the pantry so there was no way we could eat it now.
So there we were with cooked pasta, chicken and steamed broccoli but no Alfredo sauce. So my husband said that he would go to the store and get a jar of Alfredo sauce. I told him he was silly but he went anyway. I stayed home with the kids.
A little while later he returned and went immediately into the kitchen to put the sauce in the pan. I was in the living room working on a blog post and my daughter was in the dining room doing homework.
My daughter started to laugh hysterically. I went in the kitchen to see what was so funny and there was my husband with the most embarrassed look on his face. I then realized that he had a big sticker on his forehead that my daughter had pulled off the pair of shorts we bought for her. He took the sticker before he started dinner and put it across his forehead, joking with the kids that it would get rid of his headache (he suffers from migraines). He totally forgot it was still on his forehead when he dashed down to the store to get the Alfredo sauce. He had the sticker on his forehead the whole time! He said “No wonder the cashier was looking at me strange”.
I laughed so hard that tears were pouring out of my eyes. He even kept it on his forehead all through dinner just because he knew how funny I thought the whole thing was.
My husband is a very silly person. He once cleaned the condo wearing a clown nose for no apparent reason.
What a funny way to end my Birthday!
Until tomorrow…
