Day 3 in Jia’s Kitchen: A Long (Sad) and Stressful Day

Welcome to Day 3 in Jia’s kitchen. We are all very excited to see what Jia has in store for us this week, so we hope you enjoy spending this week with her!

Welcome to Day 3 in my Kitchen!

Unfortunately, today wasn’t the best of days. It started out really good. I woke up much earlier than normal and was able to get a lot of cleaning done which is always nice. I made a special breakfast for my husband who is addicted to Whoppers candy. A Whoppers Milkshake! I personally hated the thing, but that’s because I actually don’t like candy. My husband loved it and I’m certain this will be on his request list for the rest of our lives.

For lunch I threw together a real quick meal. I took 6 corn tortillas and placed them on my baking stone, set the oven for 400 degrees and then I mixed together a can of chicken, a can of green chilli sauce, and poured the mixture into the tortillas, topping it with a slice of pepper jack cheese. A small dab of sour cream and we had five minute chicken chilli tostadas! They were so good in fact, that we ate them all before I had a chance to take any pictures!

For a small snack for us before my husband was supposed to leave for work, I decided to use our GT Xpress Cooker and mixed together a small box of corn muffin mix and a can of pineapple chunks. The recipe calls is Hawaiian Cornbread and it was so delicious. We topped it with honey and butter and it only took around 5 minutes to make! This is one of my favourite electronics! It’s so fast and easy to put together really delicious things!

Around this time, our day really sunk. My husband was getting ready for work when he found that out twelve year old Boxer had passed away. Chewie was the sweetest dog you’d ever know. Never mean to a single thing in his life. He loved babies and little puppies especially and was such a loyal companion. My day was then dedicated to calling family members and consoling my husband and his Mother. I decided to get some money together, and after the funeral we had in our backyard, I took my husband out to dinner to help him get away from the house for a while.

It’s been a long and stressful day, but I look forward to tomorrow and starting fresh. I’ve already recieved many emails and calls from people giving me their kind words for my husband and our family, and I thank you all for your love.

  1. Sorry to hear about your dog, it is always so hard when a pet passes away.

  2. So sorry about your dog. Our brittany is 15 years old… I dread the day that we lose him.

  3. I’m so sorry to hear about your dog. We have a 6 year old boxer and I can only imagine how heartbroken we would be.

I don’t like whoppers either but it was very creative of you!
