Cheap and Healthy
Occasionally I hear from people who tell me they cannot afford to eat healthy. I almost always disagree, but now I have some information to back up what I have always believed to be true. My brother sent this to me the other day. It is a list of 20 healthy foods that cost under $1. How awesome is that? I highly recommend reading this article, because the author provides the reasons why she considers these foods to be healthy as well as recipe ideas. I was happy to see several items on the list that we eat regularly, and hope to add a few more from the list to our diet. I am not sure about sardines… but you never know. Anyone have a great sardine recipe?
The twenty foods are:
Oats, Eggs, Kale, Potatoes, Apples, Bananas, Nuts, Garbanzo Beans, Broccoli, Watermelon, Wild Rice, Beets, Butternut Squash, Whole Grain Pasta, Sardines, Spinach, Tofu, Lowfat Milk, Coffee, and Pumpkin Seeds.
I can’t wait to incorporate some of these foods into our meals next week.
