Making your bed seems like a chore whatever your age, but it can be such a task to get your children to make their beds and leave it nice and tidy.

For years my parents threatened me with extra washing-up or no ballet classes if I did not make my bed. This worked very effectively for my siblings and me, but these threats seem to have no effect on my children. I tried telling them that the bed monster would get them and as they got older I threatened the disappearance of their pocket money. But those beds will still be unmade and messy.
