Bulk Cooking With A Cooking Club ~ Pt. 1

I am so excited to introduce you all to this exciting new feature we’ll be running here at Happy To Be At Home for the next few weeks.

A few weeks ago, the 3 Moms received an email from Sam’s Club asking if we’d be interested in blogging and vlogging about cooking with a cooking club. As much as I’d love to cook on a regular basis with Joy and Toni, that’s rather impossible since we live thousands of miles apart.

However, bulk cooking is a subject near and dear to my heart. In fact, I even have a cooking club that I cook with on a semi-regular basis. So I was thrilled to spearhead this project for us.

My cooking club consists of myself, my mother-in-law, and my sister-in-law. Between the three of us, we span the spectrum. I am a full time stay-at-home mom cooking for my family of 6, my mother-in-law works outside of the home and cooks for just 2, and my sister-in-law works and attends school full time while cooking for her family of 4. Yet we each benefit from cooking together.

I’ll write in the next day or two on how we make our cooking club work, the benefits of it, and the potential downsides to watch out for. I’ll also explain how we use Sam’s Club and the bulk sizes to our benefit. Shopping at Sam’s (whether together or separately) really allows us to make the most of our money and time.

Some of the other areas we’ll touch in the next couple weeks include:

  • Tips from Nicole Aloni, an award winning chef, cookbook author, and former caterer for the Academy Awards.
  • Menu planning as a group, creating a grocery list, and Sam’s Club shopping tips (And join me and my family as we shop at Sam’s on video.)
  • Preparing for the cooking day.
  • Cooking Club logistics. Spend some time in the kitchen with myself, my mother-in-law and our lovely stand-in for my sister-in-law.
  • Freezing, storage, splitting food and reheating tips.

I will also be including links for all of the recipes we make with our Sam’s Club purchases.

I hope you’ll join me on this journey. I’d love to hear about any cooking club or bulk cooking experiences that you may have. Also, I’ll do my best to answer any questions you may have.

For now, here’s a little intro video from (a very tired) me.
