2 Moms, 20 Pounds: Weigh-In Wednesday #8
This is our eighth Weigh-in Wednesday, so here’s the update on our progress this last week. At the end of the post we’d love for you to link up to your own update post about your weight-loss progress. We look forward to cheering you on!
Food
JOY: Boy, it sure is hard to get back up on that wagon once you’ve fallen off. I feel like I’ve done a lot better this week in not overeating, but not as well as I had been doing the first 4 weeks of this challenge. It does help that my husband is no longer giving me large bars of dark chocolate as gifts (he gave me three in the 10 days following Blissdom). I mean, it would have been rude not to eat them, right? But at least now that there’s no chocolate in the house, I’ve done a little better. Candy doesn’t tempt me, so when I have a sweet tooth craving, I’ve been just going without lately.
KATE: I’ve continued doing okay with portion sizes. However, I’ve been struggling more with eating breakfast and snacking at night. My motivation is waning a little bit.
Water
JOY: I didn’t do as well as last week overall, but there were days when I consumed a good amount of water, probably close to my requisite 64 oz. I’m still doing pretty well on drinking water instead of milk during meals, and that I know has helped a lot.
KATE: My water intake is still doing good. It has definitely become a habit that I don’t even consider anymore.
Exercise
JOY: Same as last week. Not one bit of exercise…well, unless you call walking the length of the IKEA store 3 times in one hour.
KATE: So much for what I said last week about being out of excuses. First my husband got the cold we’ve all been passing around, then the day I was all set to go, I realized I had no good shoes to workout in. My options were crocs, boots or sandals. None of those would work. I’ve now gotten new shoes and am ready to go. SOON!!
Challenges
JOY: My mom and dad visited this last week to celebrate my dad’s 75th birthday. So on his birthday we went to Golden Corral…and I overate. I didn’t go up to the food buffet more than once — which was a good thing —but those hot rolls on the table were just too accessible…and too delicious. I really felt overfull after we left. Not a pleasant feeling at all.
KATE: Yesterday was paczki day, so I overindulged. But I had been planning on that and saving myself for it, so I guess it’s not as bad as could have been. I keep waiting to get to the point where I don’t crave sweet or salty foods, but that just hasn’t happened yet.
Successes
JOY: As I mentioned before, I’ve been struggling to get back on that wagon, so every time I say “no” to eating something when I’m not hungry I count that as a success. I did have a few of those this week…but not enough.
KATE: I guess there is nothing this past week that I would continue a success, well, except for the fact that I haven’t given up yet.
Plans for the next week
JOY: I need to be consistent all 7 days this next week. Eating well sporadically isn’t going to get me where I want to go. And of course, I really have to get moving again. I’ve felt so tired the last several weeks that I’m beginning to wonder if part of my tiredness is due to my lack of exercise.
KATE: Get to the Y, find smarter snack options for late night and prepare a few breakfast options for myself so that I’m not skipping breakfast and making up for it throughout the day.
Weigh-in
JOY: I’m up a pound and a half from before Blissdom. Not as bad as it could be, of course, but definitely not where I should be. I really don’t like being back in the 160’s. I really want to see a downward trend this week!
KATE: I’m still exactly where I was last week, which is 2 pounds less than where I was after Blissdom. I’m happy with that, but I’d like to see it going down more.
