2 Moms, 20 Pounds: Weigh-In Wednesday #7
This is our seventh Weigh-in Wednesday, so here’s the update on our progress this last week. At the end of the post we’d love for you to link up to your own update post about your weight-loss progress. We look forward to cheering you on!
Food
JOY: I still feel really “off” in my eating habits. I don’t feel like I really overate this week, but at the same time I know I didn’t wait until I was hungry either. Not to blame everything on my weekend at Blissdom, but I just haven’t gotten back into the groove of things yet since returning from Nashville.
KATE: I did great food-wise, but I think it has more to do with my cold then from any sense of self-control. However, now that I am feeling better, I’m more motivated then ever to keep up with watching more portions and watching when I eat.
Water
JOY: I did improve my water intake this week. I made sure I had a big glass of water whenever I had food, and I also sipped water throughout the day. I’m sure I still didn’t get 64ozs. a day, but it was a definite improvement over last week.
KATE: I know I got all of my water in and then some. I subscribe to the theory that lots of water is the best thing for a cold, so I drank as much as I could handle. It seemed to work with the cold, and it probably helped with some of my weight loss this week too.
Exercise
JOY: Nope. Zippo. Nada. May explain why I still feel “off.”
KATE: I feel like I have one excuse after another with exercising. I didn’t do any! First my 3 year old was feeling off, then I felt horrible for a few days, then my youngest had a fever for a day. I was supposed to go to the Y this morning for my complimentary meeting with the personal trainer and to do my first official work-out. But then at 5:30 this morning, my 4 yo came in our bedroom coughing and just not feeling well. Once we are all healthy my excuses will be done!
Challenges
JOY: Waiting until I’m hungry to eat! Food is such an emotional thing for me. I enjoy eating so much that I too often eat just for the sake of eating. Not good when you want to lose weight.
KATE: I am completely an emotional eater, just like Joy. I was feeling stressed last night and there was a box of Valentine’s candy calling my name. I did only eat 3 pieces though and not the entire box, so I guess that’s something.
Successes
JOY: There were several times, very late at night, when I felt like snacking on something, but decided against it. Small victories, but they were victories nonetheless.
KATE: On Valentine’s night, my husband bought us each a Reese’s peanut butter heart. I was starting to feel a little better by this point and was tempted to eat the whole thing. But I didn’t! I broke off a small piece and savored that, then put the rest away. That felt like a huge success to me!
Plans for the next week
JOY: I MUST get back on track with my eating habits. What helped me lose weight at first was eating only when I was hungry and not when it was “time” to eat. If I plan to lose any more weight at all, I really need to get back to this.
KATE: I’m planning to maintain my newly reinforced eating habits. And I WILL be in the gym by this weekend.
Weigh-in
JOY: Sorry, but I’m going to plead the fifth this week. I really didn’t do well at all so I’m going to give myself one more week before I share my weight again. Hopefully by then I’ll have made up some ground.
KATE: I am down two pounds from last week, although considering I had gained a pound last week, I’m actually only down 1 pound. Definitely a benefit of being sick! I’m going to have to go back and see what my total loss is so far because I’ve lost track.

Well yesterday I didn’t get a chance to post my weigh-in, but I did it today.

I did better this week! I weighed 147.6 lbs; that’s a loss of 3.8 lbs for the week and a net loss of 12 lbs since starting WW on 1-5-09. I was very good in all areas last week, except for exercise. I’m still a couch potato. I think I’ll do better when the weather warms up some — I just don’t like to walk when it’s cold, windy, rainy … Hope everyone does better next week and has weight losses to report.
Joy, that is okay! We all have weeks when we just don’t want to even look at the scale! LOL
Kate, good job! It is hard to get back to business after gaining. I often just want to throw in the towel when that happens.
I started my own WIW last week at my blog http://www.movingforward-amanda.blogspot.com, unaware that there were others out there.
Great job on the Peanut butter heart! I am totally with you on the emotional eating! Sometimes I can wait till I’m hungry, but it’s hard to stop when I’m full!
