2 Moms, 20 Pounds: Weigh-In Wednesday #6

2moms20pounds 2 Moms, 20 Pounds: Weigh-in Wednesday #2

This is our sixth Weigh-in Wednesday, so here’s the update on our progress this last week. At the end of the post we’d love for you to link up to your own update post about your weight-loss progress. We look forward to cheering you on!

Food

JOY: With Blissdom, my regular food intake kind of went out the window. However, I did still try to control my portions somewhat, especially when ordering food in the cafe. I didn’t deny myself sweets when they were available, either, although I tried to keep it to a minimum.

KATE: I’m with Joy - my food intake went out the window during Blissdom. However, unlike Joy, I didn’t concern myself too much with portion control. Although I did manage to keep from visiting the Little Debbie table every time there was an opportunity. And I quickly got back on track once I got home.

Water

JOY: My water intake wasn’t that great…again. Unlike Toni, I didn’t bring a water bottle to Blissdom, which probably would have been a good idea for me. I really wish I were less like a camel (I can go forever without drinking anything). That’s not good when I really need to be drinking a lot water.

KATE:Coffee was my constant companion throughout Blissdom, so my water intake definitely took a hit. As soon as I got home I started drinking water right away. It’s just easier to drink water at home for some reason.

Exercise

JOY: Still no exercising. And I really MUST change that.

KATE: No exercising for me either. But, I did realize how much that needs to change when I got winded running up 3 flights of stairs. That was just pitiful! My husband and I are working together to coordinate our workout schedules, and I have my complimentary appointment with a personal trainer at the Y scheduled for next Monday.

Challenges

JOY: I really should have developed a plan prior to Blissdom so I would have had some guidelines to go by in what I would or wouldn’t eat. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen, so when presented with peanut butter cups or Death By Chocolate cake, I succumbed.

KATE: Same as Joy again, especially that piece of Death By Chocolate cake we shared. I also ate way too carb-heavy on Saturday with pasta for lunch and pasta for dinner.

Successes

JOY: Although I did give in on more than one occasion to have dessert, there were also several times where I decided to stop at the meal and eat no more. Of course, it helped that the line at the dessert table was a mile long, but I still consider that quite a success.

KATE: As I mentioned earlier, I managed to stay away from the Little Debbie all but 2 times. Also, when I got home, it would have been easy to just order pizza or ask Eric to pick up fast food, but I knew better. I knew the sooner I got back on track, the better I’d be.

Plans for the next week

JOY: I hope to actually lose weight this coming week by controlling my intake more as well as exercising. And yes, I will be working on drinking more water too.

KATE: First and foremost, I plan to get a set exercise routine and finalize some physical goals with the personal trainer at the Y. Then I’ll start implementing it. I also plan to not veer of course at all, which should be easy since we have no plans for eating out and going away.

Weigh-in

JOY: I weighed in at 159.8, which is up a pound from last week. But considering my week, I guess that’s pretty good. I’m determined to be much better this coming week so that I’ll be a loser again.

KATE: I’m up one pound, 2 ozs. from where I was last week. I’m not concerned at all though, and I’m hopeful to lose that, plus more, by next week.

  1. Sounds like we all had a weird week! I was actually up in Tn this week too visiting family. I had thought about hitting Blissdom but changed my mind. Kind of glad I did - I was sick as a dog! Hopefully we will all get back on track this week and kick some bootay!

  2. I fell off the wagon, too, this past week. I weighed 151.4; that’s a gain of 1.8 lbs for the week. Since beginning WW on 1-5-09, my net loss is now 8.2 lbs. For some reason, I did not drink as much water as I usually do; and it really made a difference. Also, I was craving salty foods, and that’s not good, either! Trying to get back on track …
