2 Moms, 20 Pounds: Weigh-In Wednesday #10

2moms20pounds 2 Moms, 20 Pounds: Weigh-in Wednesday #2

This is our tenth Weigh-in Wednesday, so here’s the update on our progress this last week. At the end of the post we’d love for you to link up to your own update post about your weight-loss progress. We look forward to cheering you on!

Food

JOY: I’m still doing pretty good about not snacking and only eating when I’m hungry, but there were a few times I did have a bowl of cereal before bedtime. There’s still no chocolate in the house…well, beyond chocolate pudding, so it’s been easier to avoid eating too many sweets. I’ve been extremely hesitant to buy chocolate chips for baking because I know if they’re in the house, they won’t last very long. So it’s actually been a good thing that Walmart hasn’t carried their normal inexpensive, generic chocolate chips lately. I find it quite easy to resist buying chocolate chips at $2.50 a bag.

KATE: I had a rough week this past week. I still have the desire to lose, but my will-power is really lacking. This is honestly the first time in my life I’ve had a difficult time losing weight. My husband keeps reminding me that I’m over 30 now and my body just doesn’t work the way it used to. (Thanks honey!) I used to be able to up my activity and drop 10 pounds without even thinking about it. That’s not working for me anymore though.

Water

JOY: Still not going gangbusters in the this department, but I have been having water with meals more than milk.

KATE: No problems here. A habit is a habit and I don’t have to fight myself on sticking to this habit, thankfully.

Exercise

JOY: Yet again, no exercise. When will I learn?

KATE: I made it to the Y twice last week, plus one time with the family. However, that trip was more about playing in the pool with the kids then actually exercising. I want to up this to 4 times a week. Or, keep it at 2 and start walking or jogging once it gets warmer.

Challenges

JOY: I’ve been cooking dinner some, so I always find it a challenge not to overeat at meals times when there’s a big spread available. However, I’ve held off so far with only one small or medium-sized serving.

KATE: My will-power has definitely been my biggest challenge. If something sounds good, I’ve been caving in and eating it without a second thought. Not good!

Successes

JOY: Hmm. This is a tough one. I guess my biggest success this week was just staying pretty steady in my habits. No binge days is a good thing.

KATE: Actually getting into a workout habit, as small as it may be for now, is a definite success. Plus, along with that comes more motivation to just get into better shape, whether I lose weight or not.

Plans for the next week

JOY: Like last week, I really need to start getting off my rear end and moving more. But I really seem to have misplaced all motivation for that endeavor.

KATE: I’m going to work on kicking my will power back into shape. I’m an emotional eater and I need to let that go for sure!

Weigh-in

JOY: I was actually afraid that I may not have lost any weight this week, or possibly even gained a little since I did snack a little too much at times and I made a couple of meals. So I was pleasantly surprised this morning that I was down by .4 pounds, weighing in at 157.4. That’s a total loss of 12.6 pounds since January 1, and 7.4 pounds until my goal. So needless to say, I’ve pleased with that.

KATE: Even with my eating habits not being so great, I am still at my same weight as last week. Obviously I’d love to have a loss to report, but considering how I ate, I am ecstatic I didn’t gain anything.

  1. Celebrating small successes are great! I’m hoping to incorporate more exercise this week or I should say at least some.

  2. Great job ladies! I agree with you, Kate, that it’s harder to lose weight now than when I was younger. We need to keep at it!
